Welcome to 6H!
Welcome back to school '5Wow', I still can't quite believe you're all in year 6 already!! I hope you all had an excellent summer and I am sure that we will have another fantastic year together!
Term 1- Gift of the Nile
This term, we will be looking at Egypt with a focus on the geography of the country. We will be researching how and why the River Nile is so important to the Egyptians and will use this information to create a professional looking PowerPoint. We will be looking at both the physical and human features of Egypt and how it has changed since the Ancient Egyptians roamed the land.
In science we will be looking at light and sound and creating our investigations. We may even get to use our new data loggers!
In art we will be creating our own batik using wax and we will be using the Ancient Egyptians as inspiration.
During P.E lessons, we will be practising our rugby skills and in inside PE we will be doing some fitness circuits!
We also have out class assembly to look forward to on the 16th October!
Term 2- Awful Egyptians
We've made it to term 2! I'm glad to have seen you all settle into year 6 brilliantly and you have already had a fantastic start to the year. I can't quite believe we are in the Christmas term- we have loads of exciting things to look forward to!
Our main topic continues to be Ancient Egypt but, this term, we will be looking at even more gruesome facts such as mummification! We'll even have a go at 'mummifying' our friends!
We will be carrying out even more exciting experiments and investigations in science where we will be looking at classifying materials- this may get rather messy!!
In D.T this term, we will be designing and making our own Christmas stockings and decorations- just in time for Father Christmas' visit!
P.E will take part on a Friday afternoon this term and we will be playing football with Andy- make sure you bring in warm clothing(or a football kit if desired).
Term 3- Groovy Greeks
Welcome back! We hope you had a lovely Christmas and a very happy New Year! We lots of exciting things to be getting on with this term and a new topic too!
We will begin by learning about ancient and modern day Greece; looking at geographical aspects such as surrounding areas, famous buildings and trade.
On the 21st January, we will start looking at Greek history on our very own Greek Day! It will be a great day and we will have fun learning about gruesome battles and blood-curdling myths.
In Science, we will continue learning about materials and carry out some more very messy experiments!
In ICT, our topic is e-safety and thinking about how we can do our best to stay safe online.
PE this term is golf (every Thursday) so please make sure you have plenty of warm kit in your PE bags as it's looking as though it may get very chilly!
