Curriculum & Additional Educational Needs

Special Educational Needs

Children with Special educational needs have equal access to all areas of the curriculum; however there may be times when they are withdrawn from the classroom to practise skills of reading, writing, maths; or have specific intervention linked to speech and language or occupational therapy.

Gifted and talented

Gifted children have opportunities to work with other gifted children 4 times a week, during Soundswrite sessions. As these children become more accomplished and need less soundswrite there are opportunities for them to extend their writing, practise complex maths and experience problem solving activities.

Talented children share their successes in achievement assembly on Friday and talented artists are invited to Art Club with Mrs Shaddick.

There is also a creative arts’ week where children’s talents in Literacy, music, dance and art are developed.

EAL

Children with English as an Additional Language are made to feel welcome and we embrace this cultural diversity. If parents wish to share holidays and customs with us such as Divali they are welcome in school.

Safeguarding

Safeguarding all children is taken very seriously at school. All staff have appropriate induction training to this and it is revisited regularly. The Head teacher and Deputy are the designated child protection co-ordinators (DCPC). We are committed to keeping your children safe at all times.
