Numeracy
I can calculate volume of a cube/cuboid.
The volume is the amount of space a 3D-shape or object takes up. When thinking about amount of a liquid, you may see the term 'capacity' used- this is just another way of saying volume but it only applies to liquids!
Finding the volume of a cube or cuboid is very simple, you just have to follow a formula (rule):
length x height x width
So if I had a cuboid with a...
Length of 4cm
Height of 3cm
Width of 2cm
I would calculate the volume by...
4 x 3 x 2 =
4 x 3 = 12
12 x 2 = 24
So, the volume of my cuboid is 24cm3
We measure in cubed units- you can remember to add the little 3 as you are multiplying 3 numbers together (with area you put a little 2 because you are multiplying 2 numbers together)
PE
This afternoon, I want you to get up and get active!
Once again, feel free to have a play around in your garden but I have linked a video below for you to follow if you would rather!
